First Mercedes purchase in Sept. 2012. 1993 300TE (the wagon, the T actually does not mean "turbo") with 207,000 miles. The love/hate comes from loving to drive the car, really loving to drive it. Accelerates smoothly and is fast on the highway, great handling, etc. Has a distinctive feel just sitting there behind the wheel.

I should have waited to find one that had been cared for a bit better . I got jazzed seeing the rust-free body (in Michigan), newer tires, actually drove nicely, and I have never seen the old wagons for sale here.

The car was new in Texas and spent some time in Oklahoma. Oil money. I have the original sticker. $56,000 in 1993. The third seat was a $1200 option. Have spent too much on it already. Struts, hydraulic fixes, new radiator, brake light, seat switch, new surrounds on the headlights, etc, etc. Now it sits with the windshield wiper inoperable. Hard to stop when I have spent so much already. I thought a while ago I should cut my losses and look for a better one, but I assume I will reach a point where it will go for a couple years without major problems. Or will it???

I joined this forum because the answers to the questions seem very helpful. Not sure I should try to do the windshield wiper myself, but sounds like big money to fix at the shop. Thanks for the advice I have read so far.
THE END
