Opening roof trim strips on my 2004 E500

Opening the roof trim strips so I can attach my MB roof rack should seem like an easy thing to do, but I'd rather not break them or scratch the car either. The manual seems a bit unhelpful.
So, how do you open them properly?
I could just chance it and just try, but since I'm not in a huge rush, any suggestions would be great.

They should just pop-up. use a plastic wedge and it should ipen like a lid. Underneath is a screw hole for MB accesories. It should just bolt right up.
