New from Illinois the most corrupt state in the nation.

I am looking to buy an economical vehicle.

We need something very dependable that we can fit at least 4 people in comfortably.

I have been off work for health reasons for several years, so money is tight.

I am thinking of looking at a nice, garage kept, 85 300D diesel Mercedes for sale 107,000 miles, automatic transmission for $4500.

What is this vehicle worth? I'm sure you get this question a bunch from newbies like me.

I'm more partial to manual transmissions but if this is a deal, I would settle for an automatic.

I have done no research on vehicles and do not know much about anything, other than the GM 6.5 diesels I've been driving for about 25 years. We've put about 2.000,000 miles on 5 vehicles in that time. Probably more

What kind of fuel mileage would this vehicle get?

What should I look out for when checking it out?

Is there something about a glow plug upgrade or other upgrades I should look for? Or that will need to be done?

For some reason, I suspect that this vehicle was probably well maintained but that nothing extra would have been done to it.

What things would I be looking at needing or wanting to do if I buy this?

Any vehicle recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
