I am not the proud owner of a MB yet but i have been shopping around quite a bit. it is time to upgrade my tired old daily driver and i have happened across a gorgeous 2007 ML500 at my local mercedes dealer.
they are asking 25,000 for it with 75,000 miles, I have the full carfax report on it and it has had every service at a mercedes dealer. at 61,000 miles one of the services included removing the transmission for service. it began life as a corporate vehicle up until 16,000 miles and then was bought as certiied pre owned until 73,000 miles. it has only had the 2 previous owners.
the truck is very clean, i test drove the crap out of it and it still feels solid and everything works no problems. however my conflict is due to the fact that i work for a certain domestic auto manufacturer i can buy a brand new truck off of the lot with 0 miles and a warranty for only a few thousand more after my discounts and rebates.
the longer i drove the ML the more i started to fall in love with it. but i have heard some scary horror stories about massive repair expenses and reliability issues. i know this is a case by case issue and even brand new cars are only as reliable as the owner but some of the things i read have me terrified. i also know to take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt. so i came here to talk to the people with first hand experience.
of course if the dealer could work some kind of extended warranty into the deal all of my worries would be solved. I hope i am not rambling here so i will close with a simple question...would you?
if it helps here is the carfax, i hope it shows up
