I've been a Mercedes owner for a relatively short time, but, I've learned a lot since purchasing my Euro model '71 W115 220 back in June. A friend sent me a link to the For Sale ad on craigsllist and I thought it was worth looking at it. The car was a barn find in the late 90's, which was the last time it was registered. The guy I bought it from was yet another owner since it was harvested from the barn. He was interested in doing some suspension work to it but the car had larger issues. He hadn't run the car in well over a year when I looked at it but I was told we could start it before we struck a deal. At that time, it needed a radiator, an oil cooler, carb work, an interior, a blower fan/heater core, and a fuel pump amongst other things. I didn't know what I was in for, but then again, I wasn't aware of how cool of a car this was until months after owning it. I've got many hours into cleaning up the fuel system, exhaust, interior, electrical, mounts, underhood work, etc. and I look forward to doing a more extensive effort on renewing this machine over the winter.
I recently upgraded from a Black on black 2001 Audi A4 Quattro sedan to a black on black 2002 E320 4matic wagon. Living in the Midwest means snow (especially this last week!) so AWD was a requirement for me as I have a good commute. I came across a great opportunity to own this car through a co-worker and couldn't pass it up. It had some minor issues (bad accumulators for rear suspension, rattling exhaust from spent cats, and minor interior and electrical system issues. I've sorted most of the issues out and really just need to get through the winter so I can clean the car up and prep for installing the set of 18" Monoblocks that I acquired shortly after picking up the car. I need to find a way to lower the front end as it has a ridiculously huge wheel gap being a 4matic. Any W210 4matic owners out there have any personal experience?
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and wish everyone a happy holiday season! Happy motoring
