What's a good asking price for 1987 420SEL...

Hello, I am new here and am seek advice. I have no clue where to start for an asking price. The car is:
-clean and immaculate
-Interior is very clean
-Upholstery is in good condition
-Very comfortable and working power seats
-CD player AM/FM Stereo, still in box ready to be installed
-need new brakes and rotors
-Fresh oil
-Good tires
-The engine is powerful
-A/C works okay and heater work great
-3/4 power windows work great
-No monthly car note payment
-Clean title in hand, ready to sell
-new paint job (a few years old)

Notes on cosmetics/trim:
-The odometer stopped working around 278k miles. Current mileage is estimated to be about 290k miles.
-Analog clock works intermittently.
-Needs new sunroof tracking support
-Needs new power window regulator for driver's side
-These cars originally shipped with a first aid kit stored in a special compartment behind the back seat headrests. This car still has the original, unopened first aid kit that shipped with it in 1987. It's quite a novelty. People sell these on eBay as collector's items.

Went to NADA guide(NADA.com) and the lowest retail value for this vehicle is $6000. Does this price sound reasonable, obviously I would love to be able to sell it at or near that price? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have any pics? From the sound of it I would say around $3,000 on a really good day. I personally think $6,000 is too high for one with that many miles.

The deciding factor (in my opinion) is wether or not you have maintenance records for the life of the car that show what has been maintained and replaced on the car.

As a rule, the NADA prices are way too high. I really only look at NADA prices if the car is in near mint condition (like 25K miles and full records and inspection). If you are looking to get near $6K, you would need to fix everything listed and possibly get an inspection done to see what else needed. I mention the inspection because most buyers willing to pay $6K will have this done anyway before they buy the car. Better for you to have it done and be honest with the buyer.

$6000 sounds good to me

This is actually my vehicle -- except the mileage is lower. I posted this in the FS forums a few days ago.

My 87 420SEL has 120k on it. No rust and interior is near perfect. A/C works, heat works, all the heated seats work, upgraded stero deck and I think I would get $6,000 if someone fell in love with it... And I mean really fell in love with it.

Unfortunately I'd say 3k is even high... Though you could probably get someone to pay that if the interior and exterior really are immaculate. Good condition 126's with half the mileage usually average around 3k. Really nice condition with half the mileage probably wouldn't see more than 4, maybe 5. To get anything more than that it really has to be south of 100k miles or special in some way. Fix the window and sunroof and it should help. The window at least is a fairly easy job.
