Water inside of Car HELP!

hello guys, first post on these forums. I own a 07 C200 Mercedes Benz and live in the UK. I bought the car around 6-7 months ago. Good Quality always been a Merc fan since my dad had a 300d 79 model.

here is my problem, recently it has been raining alot in the UK (floods and everything). I recently placed some scarfs on the floor behind the co-driver seat where the back passenger would put their feet. After a trip i picked up the scarfs and noticed that they where wet, so i ran my fingers over the floor of the co-driver seat and noticed a little puddle. Now, im not sure what caused this. Straight away my mind went that because it was raining that day that water got in from the bottom of the car and somehow my car was cracked on the bottom.

I got home and dried as much water as i could, straight away i drove 2 miles to pick up my son, when i got back water formed a puddle again. Same thing has happened over 3-4 days (let me state that the water still returns even though on one of the days the weather has been dry), i dried the water and then it just comes back, every day i used 1-2 towels to get it as dry as i can. Let me also state that i press down with force on the bit where it gets wet and u can hear the sponge under full of water.

I rang a friend of mine who is the manager at Mercedes Benz and took it for a checkup today to see where the problem was. He said that they didnt know where the water was coming from and he said they tightened the doors (i didnt even know you could do that) so the doors would shut tighter. He then said that they sprayed alot of water on the outside of the car (they used a machine of some sort to do it) and the back bit stayed dry. He did say that water would still return cos under the carpet bit there is big sponge and eventually it will dry out. He brought it back tonight, so I will see what happens in the morning, i will keep on drying it out and see if the problem has been really fixed.

But... im still not convinced that the problem is with the doors. Ive heard people say it has something to do with the aircon.

I will also leave the engine running for a couple of hours with the heating up on max and leave the windows slightly open too and see if that will help.

im really baffled. Any help would be appreciated.

My car had water in the same spot randomly. It turned out that the heater core was bad and it was sending coolant down the floor vent for the rear passenger side. Everything was soaked back there on the floor. Did you figure out what it is?

well I am still on trial and error. The water has gone away(ish), it did come back after i got the car back from Mercedes. But my friend did tell me that it would, but it would be less and less water every time, he said that would be because of the sponge under the car carpet. It has now completely dry except from 1-2 small spots. But let me state that it hasnt rained for 2 days now. The big test will be when it rains. I will keep you posted.

It ended up that the heater primary was bad plus it was delivering coolant down a floor vent for the rear traveling side. Everything was soaked again there on the ground.
