Unhappy HELP! - W124 wont start after engine bay wash

Hi,

So i decided to wash the engine bay of W124 left it to dry for almost a day and then when i tried to start it the car refuses to turn over.

Had a look at the distributor and when the car is cranked it does not spark, the distributor cap looking as bad as it did naturally i decided to replace it along with the worn rotor.

Replacement done tried it again, still no joy. All the fuses are fine and i even tried another ignition coil.

Cannot see what i'm missing, please let me know anything you can think of.

Thanks,

You left wet engine to soak overnight?
Don't do it again.
Wash the engine when it is WARM and take it for at least short spin after.
Now if you have compressed air - blow the spark plug holes and the ignition coil. You might want to pull the high ignition wires and wipe them dry, dry.
If you car has ignition points, clean the contacts with electronic cleaner as well.

Post Fixed!

Finally fixed the car!

First i checked my OVP relay and realized that it was not working, changed that which also sorted an annoying ABS light i had on the dash.
Then i noticed that some of the wires we bare at points and touching the body of the car, bit of insulating tape on the open wires unplugged the battery and put it back in..... started with no issue at all.

Must have moved the wires into a position where it touched the metal of the body while washing it.

Go to W124 section where you will get direct advice from the same model owners.
You can be pretty sure the first advise will be replacing deteriorated wire harness,.
Good luck
