Which to buy??? 85 190D, 83 300D, 83 240D?
So, I'm looking to buy a new (to me) diesel Benz, this coming week. The cars with in my budget are as fallows:
1983 300D, very straight and solid body, 150k miles, from salvage title dealer, asking $2000
1983 300D Rather straight body, limited rust, 520k miles. Can get it for $500
(Miles scare and excite me, the money is good though.)
1983 240D 180k Some rust, other wise straight body, interior is a little rough, but it is a 4sp manual (that's a plus) Asking $950
Last, 1985 190D 2.2l with 320k miles. Straight body, very limited rust, interior is fair. Can get for $700
Now, I'll just state, I'm looking for something that I can run between Marion, IN and Baltimore, MD pretty often (600 mile one way) and I may have a few passengers, so room does matter a bit for the back seat. I'm also 6'7'', but not to worry, I STUFF myself into my RX7 often enough to know, if I like it, I'll fit. lol I have always wanted a 190, but the 320k is a bit high, I think. I have had a 300D before, but it was in poor shape when I had it, but was reliable none the less and served me well. The one for $2000 seems to be in properly good shape, but has a rebuilt title. Advice, opinions, and any other input is greatly appreciated!
