CLK 320 Makes Chirping/Ticking Sound Upon Locking
I have a 2005 CLK 320 that has been making a chirping/ticking noise upon hitting the lock button on the key. When you lock it, it makes a sound like a bird or a ticking clock - it has been described differently by different people... but it goes on for a while before it shuts itself off. I would say at least five minutes or so.
I read a bunch of stuff on the web and seems like there is no definitive answer to this issue - people have said that it has something to do with the auxiliary battery in the trunk which powers the alarm?
I took it in to my guy about five days ago and he disagreed with that, but also didn't know exactly what it was either. He did something with some of the connecting wires having to do with the alarm system/horn - supposedly cleaned them and reconnected it. That worked for about four days - we didn't get any bird sounds from the car at all. But last night after it was locked it started the chirping again.
My mechanic said that his diagnostic machine doesn't do everything that the dealerships do so I am going to have to take it in I guess, but I was wondering if first you could tell me please what it might be?
Also - for anyone who may know this - what is the most reputable dealership in either Texas or Louisiana?
Thank you so much in advance - I really appreciate it!
