Remote start? 2013 ML350 BlueTEC 4 MATIC

Any of you have it on this vehicle?
It never worked right from day one,...hopefully it can be resolved.
About every other start the control wouldn't show that the vehicle started, sometimes I have to push several times until it starts.

It is a compu Starpro system,....cheap Chinese??

It does not have the data on the unit for a vehicle so new.

Dealers just got the 2013 vehicles on their systems in July and it was updated in Sept. and Nov.

I was referring to the dealer service info, but using it as an example of how new high end
anti theft measures MB has used over the last few years make a remote starter impossible to install without compromising the truck's security.

Maybe,...in what way?

As for this remote start,,..I feel it has more security, when pushing down the break pedal engine quits.
I really don't like it because it needs to be started again.

I do think that it's a very complex system heaving it in the MB.
When talking to the dealer before the purchase of vehicle, they said that it's not a problem anymore with the newer vehicles, the way they explained it,..
the system they put in is separate from the vehicle's electronic,..thus not making any interference and safe to put in,...installed all in house!
As it turned out later when questioning the faulty starter, they said it was installed by
Ziebart [other business].

I feel now that I've been tricked into the purchase,....them making an extra dollar out of me. That talk was a good sales pitch and not so much the truth.

What would be my legal right's when this can't be resolved?
Take it out and money back?? And let the dealer handle this.

That is how I would handle it. They really messed up.
Just saw one that was "done in house". A Viper brand and the battery is now going dead.
That was on MBworld in the new 2013 GL section.

Ask them how they got around the codes the key has to hand off to the Drive Authorization System without compromising the anti theft features of the truck and the key.

can you be more specific on what you have in the vehicle? Do you have a different remote? or a smartphone app?

Also, there should be no reason to step on the brake before driving the vehicle. Provided everything is connected correctly, you either insert the key and turn it to the run position, or push the keylessgo button once and drive off.

On a automatic it's break first before putting into gear.
My fellow workmate has a remote on the 2012 Ford Escape and he needs
to double start also before taking off.
I guess they started doing this from 2012, ...another security future.

As in my first post, ...it's a compustar/ two way remote.
It's supposed to show in the remote that the vehicle has
started and show a 15min. countdown,...sometimes it does.
This morning I tried 3 times to start holding the button waiting for the beep,
.. ..it does start eventually but hardly ever on the first try.
It does all kind of weird things,..sometimes
it would start but not making a beep,...I would have to go out and check.
Also, remote sometimes shows the vehicle unlocked,...even when locked.

Sounds like dealer sold you some aftermarket stuff for your vehicle (did you hear about kick-backs?)
Seems it is working, but with troubles. If you like it enough the way it is >>> keep it.
Otherwise I would insist the dealer make it working right, or more likely give you your money back.
Notifying MBUSA about dealer procedure can be strong argument here.

You absolutely don't need to turn off the vehicle first. Either put the key in the ignition and turn it on or push the keylessgo button once before attempting to put in in gear.

regarding the 2 way remote, depending on the distance you are from the vehicle and where the antenna is mounted, there may be interference causing the remote to not be able to communicate with the vehicle, or the vehicle not being able to communicate with the remote.

Also, if you lock with keyless go or the factory remote, the compustar remote will not reflect the change in status, which is why the vehicle can be locked but the remote not show it.
