non start c220cdi

Hi
Problem starting c220 cdi 2004 automatic
I turn ignition on all dash indicator light up. When I turn to start position no power to starter.
I have to open sam box and close contact on starter relay, the electrics become live and when I turn key the motor will start.
Car will run with no further trouble until I turn off ignition and the process has to be repeated.
any sugestions?

Welcome to Benzworld, change the relay.

Thanks but I've already changed the relay. The fault appears not to be the relay but the power needed to close the relay. Once the relay is closed the vehicle operates totally satisfactorily. When the ignition key is turned off and the relay is deactivated it will only reactive if I manually close it.

Looks like you have a bad connection causing a high resistance possibly under the relay connector.
