New to the ML55 AMG Club
Howdy, after admiring the ML-series from afar for the last few years I finally did some research and settled on a 2000 ml55 amg (104,000 miles). My other automobile is a Saab 900se (turbo) and as much as I love the utility of a Saab hatchback, I wanted something slightly larger for me and my two young boys ... and still something that was zippy/sporty but could also handle some decent dirt road camping and fly-fishing trips.
This is my first mercedes-benz, and I've owned the ml55 for about 3 months. My mechanical skills are medium-level, often more due to a lack of proper tools and facilities than my abilities. I've rebuilt an old BMW boxer (r75/6) from the frame up and have done a lot of work on my BMW K75s (conveniently enough, the oil filter socket for the K75s is the same for the oil filter on the ML55); so, my skills are sort of medium I'd say.
Thanks in advance for any assistance that other members of this forum might be able to offer!
I hope to be a LONG term mercedes owner. Even with a few of the relatively minor issues I've dealt with since purchasing this "light truck", I'd have to say I absolutely love my ml55. It's does everything super-well and it's very comfortable to ride in as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully this positive outlook continues for the next 5 to 10 years on this ml55 ... that's kind of what I'm counting on.
