New S500 owner from Olathe KS

Hey everybody. I am new to the forum, new Mercedes owner 2001 S500. My third one I have owned. My first was a 1972 280S.
With the S500 I was having a charging issue, and I took it to a shop, come to find out there is a 159amp fuse on the front passenger side floor board behind a aluminum plate.
Well when the fixed the charging system, I got my car back and all the dash switches are not working. Hazzard, shocks rear visor all that. The shop says they will have to charge me the cost to repair, I said no and I took my vehicle.
My question is has anyone ever had similar issue, and how did they fix it? I sure could use the help. I am pretty handy so I can attempt to fix it.
