Thanks to my buddy Dr. Dickson, who has a couple of W210s, he suggested I try and swap out my vacuum pump and test my system using one from one of his vehicles.
Well, that's exactly what we did. It was very simple. The pump is located under the rear seat on the passenger side, beside the battery. It's encased by foam. First we disconnected all four of the wiring harnesses. Then we marked then disconnected all of the hoses using a small flat head screwdriver to pull back the tabs.
We temporarily installed one from his car and everything worked! All of the door locks locked and unlocked with both the remote and by using the key. All of the courtesy lights worked via the door switches and the remote. The constant red light on the dashboard locking switch went out. I also noticed that the red light flashed when I armed the car with the remote.
So, from what we could tell, the problem was a non functional vacuum pump. What did surprise us was that it caused such wide spread malfunctions throughout multiple systems.
I will either go to a wreckers tomorrow to get another pump or look for one on eBay.
I'll post once more once I get the "new" one installed and confirm that everything is working.
Thanks again to everyone for helping me troubleshoot!
