Ok...more bizarre symptoms, when I press the remote to unlock the doors and disarm the alarm, I notice that the front courtesy light turns on! However, if I were to just normally open a door, the front courtesy light doesn't come on. I should also note that when I press the unlock on the remote, the parking lights flash also.

But, when I press the arm button on the remote, nothing happens. The lights don't flash, and the doors don't lock.

Also I didn't mention that both the trunk opener switch on the counsel and the remote won't open the trunk. I have to manually open the trunk with the steel key.

Any ideas what's happening here? Where and how do I start to remedy this?

Thanks again for everyone's assistance.

Let's go back to door switch. That should be easy to check and fix.

Thanks again for your help!

Sorry for my ignorance and I've been searching and reading the w210 forum for information on the door switch and I can't find anything specific to door switches and their diagnostics. I guess my simple question is:

What is a door switch? Where do I find it? How can I evaluate it?

Thanks again and please continue with the advise!

Looks for it in the door jamb in front of the door.

The way you check it is real easy. Pull the one from the driver's door out and replace it with one from any other door. If the lights then work, you know the driver's switch is faulty.

Also, did you actually check if the pump was getting power.

Thanks. I will swap the door switches and report back.

I was planning on checking to see if the pump was getting power by using my multimeter, but I don't know which wires to check?

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll report back on the door switches later today!

Ok. All door switches appear to be okay. I came to this conclusion because when I put in the key and the drivers side door was open I would get the beeping telling me to take the key. Then I depressed the door switch and the beeping stopped and the instrument cluster changed to mileage and time.

Next?

Pump testing is not so easy as it is computerized animal requiring programming.
But door switches did come on the forum several times. Sometimes taping a penny to push it more is the solution, sometimes you have to replace it.
None of the door is activating the lights?

None of the door switches activate the lights. I pushed the door switch in with my finger and there was no change.

This could be a switch permanently open or faulty computer chip.
I would start with puling the switches and inspecting them visually. Driver door switch is usually first one to go.

When the drivers door is open with the key in the ignition, the display says remove key and there is a beeping sound. When I depress the drivers door switch or close the door the display changes to mileage etc and the beeping stops.

Would a faulty door switch do this?
