Hello from Oregon
Hi there, My name is Hank and I have been a Mercedes lover for 12 years. My first Mercedes was a 1977 450SEL (W116 is still my favorite body) that I happily drove the last 90,000 miles of it's life until the transmission popped leaning a trail of bits on the road behind it. At that point I had already collected a 1979 300TD (W123) and a pair of 380SEL's (W126) that I had built one nice car out of as one had a very blown motor with trashed seats and the other had a good drive train and great insides but tons of body damage. I also for a very short time had a 240D that I resold before even getting it running.
I currently have 4... A 1972 250C (W114) that I bought from a scrapper hoping to restore at some point. A 1973 280 (also a W114) with lots of cancer and now a broken windshield thanks to an ex but I love this car so am hanging on to it. My baby, a 1977 280SE (W116, my true love) that I also bought from a scrapper and have rebuilt to almost as good as new. My last one is a 1988 300TE (W124) that has been my daily driver for the last 5 years with no issues until I had to park her 2 months ago due to a stalling issue I can not solve.
The 300TE will start and drive fine until it gets up to temp. Then it loses power, starts running poorly and will eventually stall. After it has stalled it will not start again until it has cooled all the way down. I am at a loss even where to start at figuring it out.
If anyone has suggestions on where to start troubleshooting or has had this same issue I would love to hear from you. Any advice at this point is welcome.
