Black debri / vibration from vents
I have a 2003 ML 350, w163.
When I turn on the A/C (or outside air) or heater, there is a loud vibration. Very low frequency sound, sort of like when you blow out your mouth and flap your lips like a child would to make a car sound. Also, there is occasionally black debris that gets spit out of the vents. It looks like some kind of black foam, possibly a filter or seal that is breaking down, but when I touch it, it disintegrates in my hand, and becomes oily and sticky, like tar. Its almost like its melting. My guess is some filter has started to break down and got caught in the ac blower motor fan.
I am not sure if the two issues are related, its just my assumption that they are.
I have checked the cabin filter, and its brand new, no debris in the cabin filter housing.
Any tips, advice, or links to how I might go about getting into the blower motor would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
