That's a beauty. An unmolested example of a 4-cylinder estate is tough to find - most became work-horses for tradesmen or school buses years ago. With perfect leather and AC... seems a rare care to me, and well worth keeping for the longer term.
It's easy to see it's been cared for - the dealer sticker in the rear window speaks volumes. Has it had any major work in the last couple of years?
I expect you have found how relaxing and enjoyable these are to drive - the best safety feature of all, in my opinion. The 124 style means no road-rage, no points on the license, no foolish risk-taking - could be the perfect car for a new dad who loves 'classics'.
My record so far is 36mpg (UK) but that was 450 purely motorway miles at about 65mph average. Around the city... it's like yours, 23 or so. Never mind - I had a friend who couldn't do better than 16mpg in his 300TE!
The best way to save fuel costs is to leave the car at home of course, but when I do have to drive, I'd rather enjoy the journey than be obsessing about the MPG. I would probably not have bought one of these to commute in...
All the best, and looking forward to inspecting this car soon.
(By the way, I know of a 7 seat beige leather interior for sale... I am very tempted to buy and fit it, though it won't be as mint as yours. My cloth is actually in very good condition, but I have always thought I'd prefer some hide in there...)
