big tires- speedo recal

I just got my 99 slk230 and was looking around the internet and found out that my car came with 16 inch rims and i have 245/45-17's on the rear and 225/45-17's on the front. is this the reason my cruse control kicks out while on the highway? if so what can i do to fix this?

Try a search of the R170 forum. You should find information on your cruise control problem.

I have a '99 slk sitting on 18's and didn't have to adjust the sensor and my cruise control works.

A while back, someone posted the flowchart for how MB car constantly monitored wheel rotations then fed the data to the computer. The OP's tires' circumferences differ a lot from front and back (80.6 vs 78.4in). The faster the car goes, the more error the computer may notice to disengage the cruise control for safety reason. I'd try to drive at slower speed in the city, engage the cruise control. If it works then the difference in front and rear tires is the problem. To fix, put in the same tire sizes on front and back.
