CLK 240 yet another transmission problems

Hello all,
after car jerking when placed into D or R and being stuck in one gear, as advised I checked the TCU for oil and replaced the conductor plate, socket, filter and ATF, all Mercedes parts. No foreign material was found, oil did not smell burnt but just like the new oil, no water or coolant in oil either. Checked oil level and it's just on max whilst 80 degrees. Reset P2502 and P2503 codes on TCU and was unable to reset code P206D on ECU. All codes came back and now have following issues; drives normally no jerking, shifting gears smoothly, then gets stuck in one gear and makes whining noise, the faster I go the louder the noise, then goes away the next day. Also when engage into D, it drives, but shortly after it doesn't drive, when try to re-engage nothing happens, as normally you can feel when the D or R engage because of hardly noticeable jerk. When turn off and on the engine, it re-engages ok, drives, shifts, and no whining noise. Basically everyday I don't know whether it will drive, or get stuck, or won't engage at all.

Apart from checking solenoids and springs under the conductor plate I have no other ideas but to ask the professionals before I remove the sunk yet again. Could it be the well known torque converter and/or pump?
95,000km on the clock.

Torque converter not locking up? This may explain the whine noise, but I am guessing here.

For the best chance of a response from someone with a similar experience, I wish that this thread had been posted on the W209 forum - that is where most owners hang out. Generally, transmissions in the 722.6 family seem very reliable.
