Smile Mercedes 500SL roof problems

Hi I live in the UAE and have just brought a 1992 Mercedes 500sl.
It was a bit of a deal and I got it as a second car to put mileage on as I am travelling a fair few hundred km a week to and from work. One of the great perks of this car is the removable hard top, especially considering it is sunny here almost everyday of the year. Of course this doesn't work on my new car. the drivers door won't even lock either. I've downloaded the owners handbook and followed the instructions exactly. Nothing is working. I am guessing that over the years something has gone wrong, hydraulics, electrics fuses etc. As also the roll bar does not work either. Does the roll bar go up and down even when the hard top is on, or does it only work once the hard top has been removed? I am taking the car to a local garage tomorrow after work and will see what they say regarding fixing her up a little, but was looking for a little extra professional advice before I do so. Ps the red lights on both the roof and roll bars seem to go on and off at various different times so there is a power source to those still. I can also here some sort of faint noise coming from the back of the car when i do try and press the buttons too, but nothing unlocks to lift off the roof and bar doesn't budge.
One other question is that this car has rear seats, I thought they were only 2 seater cars, will there still be storage under these seats and if so any ideas on how to lift them up as the seat belts are jammed underneath.
Sorry from a complete newbie to the merc 500sl.
I once owned a mercedes vito van, the sl however is a little different. Thank you in advance. Dave. even though there is fair amount wrong (I haven't listed everything) with the car that needs fixing. I can't wait to drive it to work tomorrow morning. My wife has my xterra for work now too so she is also very happy.

You'll be better served if you find the proper forum for your 500SL. There is a roadster section that you should see if you scroll down the main BenzWorld page. Then match your car with the chassis number and ask the actual owners hanging out there. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
