Should I buy

Hi all I am new to the forum and the world of MB's. I am interested in the older SL's. I have found one that is 1982 380 SL, needs various things, exhaust, tires and new top. However seems to run great and rides fantastic, front in is tight. However this deal with the single chain timing has me scared. Should I keep looking or is it something that I can fix down the road, what should I look for in the engine to make sure it is running ok or how do I have the timing chain checked? Thanks for your help, love the car. Oh it was part of an estate and only has 69,000 miles. I can buy for $6,000.

Glarkin,

The price definitely seems reasonable at $6000USD Older model MBs were built rock solid. However, I recommend you get this car checked up for any issues or concerns. This will give you a peace of mind and also to let you know what to expect on upkeep and maintenance.

Carpe diem !

Sounds like a great Benz, but have it checked out thoroughly!

Thanks all, I am having a mechanic check it all out. Big problem now is that it loses power and then when you stop it and restart it it runs good. Any ideas on that?
