I finally replaced the 8-year-old MB 100A battery in my car. Nothing wrong
with it. Ran fine and had zero problem with starting the car. Even the MB
dealer's official battery tester showed it to be in good condition.
I kept the old battery because I thought it must have some other uses, right?
The core/recycle charge was only $7.50.(what I would get if I gave it back
to the parts dept)
Off the top of my head, I guess I can use it for:
jump starter battery... keep it charged with a trickle charger and take it out
if one of my cars(or a neighbor's) needs a jump start. I have a small carry-on
luggage cart and the battery can be rolled down the driveway or something.
hook it up to a solar panel and power my lawn LED lights with it?
emergency back-up power... by keeping it charged with the trickle charger
and switch to the Tripp Lite 750-watt AC inverte that I have
Is this silly? Should I just hand the battery back to the parts dept and get
my $7.50 back?
Just seems a waste to let them recycle a perfectly
good (but old) battery....
