New Guy Today
I'm a new member to Benzworld but not a new Benz owner.
I live in one of the world's best locations - Just outside Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. Been here for 50+ years now and love it. The climate is a little rough on cars since the salty air seems to cause our cars to melt away with rust. However, keeping the under bellies covered in Crown Rust Control has worked well for me in the past.
Currently I have a 1988 CE300 European Model that came out of Japan about 8 years ago into Saskatoon SK. I picked it up on E-Bay and had it shipped home - been a money pit since but that's for another forum.
I started with an older Benz in the early 90's. My wife at the time was one of those drivers who would do anything while driving but pay attention to the road - actually rear ended a car while putting make up on. So, I asked my brother in Regina, SK to find me a land yatch that she could play bumper cars with and not get hurt. He came up with a 1982 Mercedes 300SD and my passion with the older Benz began. We kept that car for 9 years and put well over 250,000 miles, not Km, on it and she never put a scratch on it. It's still on the road today with nearly 750 Miles burning veggie oil. That was one of the best cars I ever owned and I still miss it.
My next Benz venture started with a weekend in Vegas. My brother and I thought we would go down for a week long party and ended up driving back to NS with a 1986 300SDL. (a story that will never be in print) This was another classic that I kept for years and only sold it so the ex would have a newer smaller car to drive - C230 Kompressor.
My move to the Gas models has not been a positive experience and will likely try and pick up an early 90's 124 diesel sometime in the winter. They just seems to be so simple to look after.
Anyway, that's my Benz story and am looking forward to the Benzworld experience.
