New Member: 560 SEC Drift Car!!

Hi guys,
I'm Dale, just signed up, been looking through your forum for few months now and thought I'd join..

I bought my first and only Mercedes about 3 months back, it's a 87 560 SEC Auto, the bodywork is terrible, rusty as hell.. Underneath is not to bad but still needs work really..
I bought it because it was very reasonably priced and guessed I could have some fun in it and make my money back selling the parts when I'm finished with it..

Only done a few modifications to the car.. Welded the differential, Cut exhausts off at the downpipe, and the car already had some lowering springs on it..

Iv had a good few outings in the car now, there is a drift comp each month called King of the Ring at Arena Essex.. It's a good laugh and improves drift skills. Iv taken many cars round before, usually cheap BMWs that end up quite battered.. The SEC has been the best car by far that iv taken round.. More than enough power and it sounds like a NASCAR, literally people are coming up t me in the pit lane and congratulating me on such a fine vehicle

Anyway, the car is unfortunately being broken for spares now, but I'm semi thinking about keeping the engine and putting it in some thing small with no roof..
My question is, what manual gearbox assy can I get for the 560 lump? In my searching I found some vague info on a jeep gearbox fitting?!?

Here's a few pics of the car in action

The day I picked her up

oops, may have spun and caused a crash..haha

Thanks man, good to see another member in the UK

And damn right... Drifting in style
Iv learnt to skid big heavy auto cars and love them..

I specialise in JDM Toyotas, Mainly Chasers, Soarers, Aristos, Altezza's, etc.. Do some work with a few select Nissans too.. I like the Toyotas because like the Merc, they are big and comfy
I'm building a GS300 with a 1jz and manual gearbox at the moment, luxury drifting is where it's at..

Nice. We'd love to seem some video if you have any. Here's the only other 126 drifter I've come across... not much Mercedes left in it though... Check out the dyno numbers!

Yea unfortunately unless you want to spend upwards of 10 thousand euros there isn't much to be done to the engines for power gains besides forced air, or NOS obviously which you have... And turbo or supercharging obviously isn't cheap. There is a member on here that has made a complete titanium valvetrain kit that requires a solid lifter conversion, but we haven't had dyno numbers on that yet. I think he's selling the titanium components for around 2 or 3 thousand USD.

You should introduce yourself in the 126 section, I'm sure there will be a few people shaking their heads, but I'll bet most can appreciate it. Keep us updated if you do anything to her.

I dig the s13 too, I've got a buddy with one that is slowly turning into a really really cool car.

Oh yea and about a manual tranny for the m117, there are only a handful in the world probably. There have been several people in the past talking about an adapter for the manual out of a few different cars, but it seems like it will never happen.

I thought about seeing if the manifolds would flip over and just weld a pair of turbo flanges on somewhere..lol.

I might take a pattern of the bellhousing and see what might fit..

Yeah that's my friend Dylan in the s13, it's a genuine 180sx, now has a sr20det, literally sold that last week.. S15 next for him..
