No I don't own a MB yet, I'm a full blown Dodge guy and that's all I've owned since 1986
But I am looking for a MB diesel for my wife and as a family car. So I'd like to find out as much as I can about them. The good bad and the ugly.
I grew up with a grandfather that drove Chrysler products but had 3 MB in the basement. 1938 WWII general's car convertible with suicide doors. A 1953 300 4 door, and a 63 220SE. I drove and worked on all of them. Great cars and I had a lot of good times in them with my Grandfather.
He's gone now and so are the cars but the memories remain.
So now it's time for me to start on my own collection. Ha Ha.........
I found a 83-85 300D non-turbo local. I don't have a price as of yet but I should by the end of the week. It was in a flood, the water just covered the center console. It runs good, but has a bad shake at idle, but with a little pressure on the throttle it smooths out. Trans fluid and engine oil were changed with no signs of water in either. It has rust in the rockers and 1/4 panels but I do body work and painting on the side so that's not an issue.
I guess my question is what's it worth? 146K on it, needs cleaned up inside, a motor mount, A/C is not working, shakes the whole car when it idles, rust fixed and needs painted.
