Question Newbie curious about MB Wagons

I am thinking about selling my Audi allroad and looking for another make with all wheel drive for <$10k -- NOT an SUV.
An E320 4matic caught my eye -- clean CarFax, 2 owners, 104k miles, good maintenance history w/ MB shops, asking price is $8k.
Quick web scanning --> reports of strong engine, potentially troublesome electronics, & rust issues. I am seeking any additional info about what to be wary of -- any more specifics regarding electronics? [the Audi has made me shy about such issues!] What maintenance should be expected at around 100k miles? [e.g., my BMW's need a cooling system about then] Would you recommend considering a different MB wagon?
Many thanks! Fred

My mother put 16 years of fairly hard usage on a 300te 4matic with no problems. Sold the car with 160k miles on the clock and it was still going strong. They may have some electrical gremlins, and if it's from back east it may have rust, but it will be infinitely cheaper to run than an Audi Allroad. Stay away from any Audi between 80-115k miles. That's when they need MAJOR service. Everybody dumps them between 80-115k miles because they do not want to deal with the service bill that comes.

Just my $.02

I just recently got traded in a 2004 E320 4Matic wagon. I was great and trouble free the years I had it. Might be a bit over your price range but I had zero problems.

It sounds like you are talking about a W210 body rather than a w124. If so, I would direct you to the W210 forum where your question will get attention from current and previous owners. I don't think you are talking about a w124 because you imply it has a 3.2 I don't think they brought a W124 4-matic wagon into the USA in 94-'95 (the years when the W124 had an e320)

The W210 has a rust issue with the front suspension upper spring supports. This is pretty serious and needs to be focused on when looking. Otherwise, I have more experience with a W124 but like I said, I don't think that is what you are looking to buy.

Ditto to tuttebenne. MB made W210 wagons up to the 2003 model year. You should be able to find one within your price range.

I did own 1999 E320 wagon 4M as family car and replaced it with diesel sedan.
Than I bought 2003 Audi A4 Avant, for my son. The much smaller and much newer Audi was burning much more gas than Mercedes. Bottom line, I was kind of happy when my son got rear ended and Audi got totaled
The only weaker point on 4M are front CV joints, but having aftermarket or used parts now it is not a big deal. At the time I had to pay $1200 at the dealer.
