got a problem!

hi everyone, completely new here only 20 mins old
had to find you guys through desperation, got an E320 cdi estate auto.
love it,been running fine and doing what it should, however yesterday evening,i went to a gig( i'm a vocalist) finished and packed the kit into my car.
car started fine, drove off a kerb and as it bumped down the engine simply stopped.
tried to restart and there was nothing on the key position 3, tried park and neutral in case it was the inhibitor switch, still nothing.
dash lights come on with first two positions, EXCEPT the glow plug light.
its as if the immobilisor has kicked in and wont allow any energy to the starter motor. there is no click so that hasn't jammed, battery is full.
there is obviously some sort of wire/connector come loose as the car bumped down the kerb,or an electrical component has failed.perhaps the starter inhibitor relay
i've had to car in bits today and cannot find anything loose or disconnected.
oh,the rear lights come on to with the key position 2 too, which is a little confusing, but i'm hoping one of you superstars could help.
i'm at a loss.
thanks in advance.

Welcome to Benzworld, what year is the car?

re:got a problem

first thanks for your reply i thought i was fighting a losing battle!
The car is a 2002 model estate.
is there a fuel cut off relay/switch anywhere
or where would i find the inhibitor switch on the gearbox,it is as if the car thinks it is still in drive.
