2004 S430 AC Blower and Regulator issue
My blower works intermittently, sometimes when I start the car it won't blow, it just won't come on. Other times it starts with the car just fine. It never stops (unless I turn it off) once it starts, it only fails somehow once the engine has been turned off.
I just got a incredibly high estimate to replace the blower motor on the AC and power regulator/resistor. They want $1,400 for this, which is currently out of our price range. I have found online the part much cheaper than they quoted me, they had about $1000 in parts and $400 in labor. I can get the parts for about $400.
I doubt I need the blower motor as it does not whine or grind. I guess there could be bad brushes, but I doubt it. It sounds like the regulator. I have read elsewhere that the blower and regulator are located in the passenger wheel well. Once I get the trim off, I cannot seem to find what to take off next. There are some odd spacer type of plastic things I can get off (but are difficult to get back on), other than that I cannot see what to remove next.
Does anyone have a detailed explanation of how I get to the blower and regulator on a 04 S430 4matic? Or even better, does anyone have diagrams?
