For fathers day I fell into a 1983 500SL. I can't wait to get it running well and really enjoy some of these summer days!
Two issues that it had when I bought it were 1) Coolant would boil out of the expansion tank when I shut the car off and 2) The car starts perfectly when it's cold but will stall as soon as it warms up. If I push on the throttle plate lightly I can make it idle perfectly but as soon as I take pressure off it stalls. After doing this a few times it will run great the rest of the day.
Problem #1 seems to have been taken care of by replacing the cap on the reservoir. I would love to hear suggestions about problem #2.
