Radio brightness minor problem!

Lo all.
I have a UK spec, 2011, E class, 220 estate. W212.
Only use it twice, in the dark, last night being the second. Whoa! Is the radio display bright. I assume there must be a way to dim it or set to auto dim etc; but can't find any reference in the handbook. It didn't come with the radio instruction book from the previous owner.
Any suggestion please?

i have the c class which had a twirly knob sticking out of the dash to the left behind the steering wheel. you must have the same in a similar position. just twist it when the lights are on and you can adjust. or you can put the sat nav on and adjust the day and night brightness through the settings.
