Greetings to everyone on this forum! I've been reading various threads on this forum and decided I must join. I really love reading owners' opinions, perspectives and helpful tips on everything related to Mercedes Benz vehicles.
I own a 1990 MBZ 500SL that now has 181k miles on it. It is in pretty decent shape for its age, although it is showing wear on the bumpers (especially with repatched front bumpers from those dang parking meridians). The soft top is in nearly new condition since I have the hard top on most of the time. New tires and battery too!
I will next embark on repairing and repainting the bumpers and on spray gluing the headliner (that has gotten a mind of its own). Previous threads on proper headliner repair have been very instructive and helpful as I prepare myself mentally for the repair. I want to do it right the first time!
Any recommendations or tips on how to remove, prep and paint the bumpers (front and rear) would be most appreciated.
I would also appreciate any tips or suggestions for repainting the front hood (there is slight fading from a previously torn hood insulation pad). How much would it cost for a typical job?
Thank you for reading my post and offering any suggestions.
