1988 300sl w107 - if i was offered a price i couldnt refuse
I've been reluctantly advertising my car without a price for about 8 months now and I have not been tempted by anything close to considering a sale.
Though I know there are thousands of reasons why I shouldnt part with my w107, circumstances necessitate I ignore my heart and do the right thing to satisfy other demands.
For someone this car could be all their dreams delivered - its an 88 model in black, auto, RHD, ABS, power steering/windows, manual seats (thank god), tan leather, and almosts everything has been upgraded with genuine parts - I've had her for 15 years and shes driven everyday, garaged at night.
She looks the part wearing chrome 18 inch AMG wheels with fresh sticky Yokahama's. The window tint and dark paint only magnifies the standard chrome strips all round. 'Sexy' and 'cool' some say.
Valves/valve springs etc just serviced and she pulls like just out of the showroom. There's no problem hitting the limiter at 230+ (KM/H).
Hard/Soft top is in good condition and so is the recently refreshed to 75% gearbox and engine. She's clean throughout, no rust, but expect the scuffs of daily exposure. I would have the paint redone as its not perfect (a workshop that was recommended).
As many w107 owner will agree theres little space to accomodate a significant sound system but with a MP75 Blaupunk CD player, full range Morel cones by the pillars, Morel 4 inch mids in the dash pods, a flat bed subwoofer in the middle of the rear seats and Helix amplification under the passenger foot well - you may just find the sound you seek.
Starts first go, nice idle purr, smooth gear changes, ample power to put a smile on your face and the weight in your palms is so reassuring of its safety -real metal.
Still turns heads and always invites fine conversations.
If I'm not mistaken, the 300sl is known as the model with a perfect balance of power to weight ratio in comparison to the other sl models available of the same year?
