So I fell in love with the 300SE

I'm not a Mercedes owner yet, but I've been looking for a while. I finally saw an ad for a 1991 300SE with 70k miles on it. I stopped and looked at her today and she is beautiful inside and out. The problems I saw on the interior was the rear window control sticks, but does work and the AC isn't blowing ice cold air.

The guy who has it for sale said it bought it from a friend who got it for his dad who died the day after he bought it. The current owner had to read the manual to know how to do everything including starting the car. When he did start it, he had to hit the gas a couple of times to keep it running. Could this be just from sitting?

These are the only things I noticed, but I'm not a pro and will have it inspected before I purchase.

I did run an Autocheck, and it checked out fine there.

Are there things I should look out for particularly for this car? I'm green and have:
A. Never owned a Mercedes (but lusted all of my life!)
B. Am not a DIY gal.

I had this exact problem a couple of months ago on my 88' 200D.

After examining, i have found that the pre-filter on the fuel line next to the engine was cracked (since its plastic).
So it was leaking and letting air in the system, which resulted in that "keep hitting the gas to keep it running" problem, since the engine was getting air bubbly fuel.
Just replaced it with a new one (about 2$ fix).

It could be something similiar in your case too

Just my cents,
