Tire warranty - too late and out of luck

I was reviewing my mother's service records for her 2009 e350 and she was billed $500 for tire damage due to a pothole in May 2010. She had purchased a 5 year Tire & Wheel road hazard warranty at time of car purchase (at the time it was through GE, not MB). I was annoyed the warranty didn't cover the damage. When I called the service dept, they stated the "GE Warranty does not come up on their system so they wouldn't know she had it"

This is her second car with the dealership, and she had all repairs completed at this dealership.

What a scam....sell an elderly, single woman a policy and then pretend she doesn't have it.

Am I off base? I'm assuming there isn't much that can be done given the damage was repaired 2 years ago. Thanks -JD

Send the claim with all paperwork/bill directly to GE. They will examine it. By some chance, they may honor it but will not pay for what the dealer charged.
