Buying used W211

Hi everyone - I am looking to buy a used 2004-2006 W211 with about ~70k miles on it (likely not CPO). My two areas of research are a) reliability and b) the "life expectancy" of this car. From professionally written reviews it appears this model is very reliable, although I've read more mixed reviews by actual consumers. Personally, I would reckon the car is reliable given its widespread fleet service - I remember the E-class everywhere as cop car, taxi, etc growing up in Germany (always loved the look too!). Moreover, I've had trouble seeing rough estimates on service life (miles). If you guys could share your insights, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi have a 2004 E220 (W211) and apart from the SBC unit (sensortronic brake control) being replaced recently under 'lifetime' Mercedes warranty can't really say much bad about the car. If you are looking at a model newer than 2006 the SBC problem won't exist as this was discontinued around 2006.

A better question for the W211 forum. But in general with Mercedes, the newer the better within any given chassis series.

I know I am just one person but my 2004 wagon (4matic) has been worry free. I currently have 85,000 miles on it and am very happy. Would buy another in a heatbeat.
