1978 300d brake issue

So I just bought this 300d 3 days ago and its got 120k original miles, the lack of rust and the high luster in original paint tell me this only has 120k miles. I purchased this vehicle not to show off how fast I am able to drain my wallet but save a bit on gas and keep a classic floatin around.
So its got the brake warning light on and pulls to the right a bit, no biggie. So I get new pads and do the job myself (German engineering is impressive) get the pads in, didnt replace the sensor wires YET and fired it up. Brake pedal almost went to floor and just this spongy non assertive brake feeling. What am I looking at now? Do I need to bleed(honestly)? Im all by myself and have no fancy speed bleeder just some 1/4 inch tubing and a sprite bottle. What fluid do I use? Oh by the way it a euro model, I know they are all imports but this one wasnt made to come to the usa (originally) but was "converted" to do so. Not sure how relevant that is but what the heck. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
