I've always wanted a Mercedes but due to my other car being my baby, I could never really afford to fork out for one. Until now!
I just got a 1992 2.0 Inj. 190E with a blown head gasket. The rest of the car is very tidy with the exception being a couple of vent panels on the dash need replacing. The factory jack is there which was nice but the tool kit and first aid kit were missing.
I've so far managed to take off the entire intake manifold etc but then after reading the PDF manual found here, I realised it's supposed to come off with the head
So the 190 will now slide in alongside my 1993 Ford LTD 5.0, and my Ford Laser runabout. It will be nice having a heavily modified, 5-speed manual 5.0 for fun, a 1.6 300,000km Laser for running around, and a 2.0 auto Merc' for cruising.
Plans for the Merc are to fix the headgasket and tidy up any other issues, then fit a decent Pioneer head unit and speakers/sub etc. Once that's done I'd like to lower it and get some 16x8 mesh wheels, or something like that.
The grille is currently off getting prepped for paint. And I've also fitted a new genuine hood emblem. I was surprised to see how inexpensive parts for these cars were, especially on eBay.
Below photos are off my LTD and the new Merc, plus also the LTD happened to be sitting close by when I took the grille off of the 190, so I snapped a pic with a bit of Merc' on it.
