New member needing help

Great site....thanks for allowing me to join. I purchased a car rmy wife has always wanted a 1980 280. Everything was fine until I relocated and had the car shipped via enclosed transport. When it arrived, it would not crank over. seemed as though the key was not turning far enough. I removed the cluster to gain access to the switch. Removed the rear portion of the switch, by inserting a screw driver the car will crank right up as always. How do I remove the mechanical part of the switch to replace or determine the problem?

Also need help with the VIN decode...WDB107042120007763.

The plate inside the driver door states the car is a 1980 imported for Steve Thornburg and converted by Intercomp of Charlotte North Carolina.

Any help would be great!

Thanks in advance!
