W211 Torque Converter E320 CDI

Hi, recently suffering from the glycol problem, and really cannot afford new Torque Converter from Mercedes quoted £1660 + vat, got new Nissens radiator £165+vat and looking for a remanufactured Torque Converter, approx £250 + vat and delivery (exchange(, company told me they have been remanufacturing Torque conveters with the lock up diabled as this is how many independants want them rebuilt, has anyone heard of this, they can remanufacture with the lock up rebuilt but costs a little more. How would a car run with the lock up diabled, he says indis tell him they run better, and no further problems with Lock up slipping.
