Newbie just bought CLK55 cab, have dual exhaust and wheel questions
Hello- I own a Volvo R wagon (300 hp & 6 spd MT) and I love driving it.
My wife and I have been talking about getting a convertible for 2 or 3 years now.
We live on Cape Cod. The other day we were in Boston and I just happened to google
CLK convertible for sale near Boston. Up came a car that I almost passed by,
because it was a CLK55 AMG- they're usually priced a bit above our proposed budget.
We were looking at 320s and 430s, though I recently drove a friend's
C350 and was impressed with the power. Anyway, I emailed the guy my cellphone number.
After doing several things in and around Boston, we were just preparing for the ride home
when the phone rang. We arranged to look at the car which was on our way to the Cape.
We took it for a test ride and we both fell in love (with the car).
Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway) the next afternoon I was driving
it back to its new home on the Cape.
I am considered by some to be a risk-taker: I fly experimental airplanes,
learned to fly in ultralights, and used to have an aerobatic biplane
and go upside down, etc. However, the first time I put the accelerator
to the floor in this car, I was scared.
Maybe it was the smallish road I chose to floor it on, I don't know.
Anyway, I LOVE the car!!
I have checked the forum for info on changing the exhaust to duals,
(or perhaps quads), but hardly any posts,
and even they were about 5 years old.
Anyone have any info more current about who might make
a good sounding dual exhaust (I'd prefer duals to quads) for the Clk55?
Or any good exhaust shops in the SE Mass area who may have experience in doing this?
Of course I love the sound of the stock AMG exhaust
with dual tips on the one side, but I suspect it may even sound better
with the separation the duals would provide.
I don't think I would just go and do it, without at least
listening to a car that has had it done.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, A friend of mine pointed out to me a different type of wheel for
The AMG, instead of 5 wide spokes, it has 5 double (and thinner) spokes.
Like the ones currently pictured on EBay item #221001688088.
Well, I've looked in your classified ads and the OEMs go for about $400-500
each, from private parties. I'm sure they're way more from MB.
Anyone have any experience with the look-alikes for sale on EBay for
$700/set 4? (Item #360433228281)
