My name is Christopher and I'm new here.
I work in IT but love spending my free time tinkering.
I have a bit of a W123 habit in that I have always been in love with the old 80's model 240 and 300D's. Even since I was a kid and used to see them from the school bus while driving to school.
My first car was a 1982 Volkswagen jetta Diesel.got 52 MPG which for 1992 was good especially since diesel fuel was so cheap then! I was a broke person back then so I had to learn to do all my own repairs includingchanging out my manual trasnmission, fixing CV joints, doing brakes, changing out an injector pump replacing the clutch, etc. It was a very fun little car. It died while I was in College out in Missour about 1995. I was so busy with a kid and school I just sold it for scrap and regertted that deicision ever since.
Now I have two W123 240D's I'm restoring to get me back to my diesel roots. I forgot how much I loved these things.
My 1981 is an automatic with a good body but the interior is crap. My 1982 is a great interior(Dash has ZERO cracks!) but came from New York at one point so it's rapidly becoming a flintstones car.
I love comiserating and wrenching with other Mercedes W123 enthusists. If you need help or to borrow tools and are local to me just send me a PM.
