New to benzworld, but 43 years a Mercedes fan
I bought my first Mercedes in USA for factory delivery in Feb 1969. The 280 SE sedan served me well for 34 years. It had just over 200k miles on it when I sold it. It had many little nuissance problems, but always ran very well and reliably. I bought 2001 320SLK 'Sport' in March 2006, it is firemist red and turns heads every time I drive it. I bought my 1970 280S in Oct 2009 and it is in beautiful shape but getting a new used cam and rocker arms, etc. It has 105k miles on it. I bought my 2004 E55 AMG in June 2011, and it is such an amazing car. The only problem I have had was a tire blew out, and I did not have my spare with me. The car was not fitted with a spare, but the original owner had a blow-out and bought a wheel and tire for a spare. You have to put it in the trunk, of course. The spare tire location on that car is too small and has a battery in the way. The 469 hp engine gets 23 - 24 mpg on the highway at 65 - 75 mph, and I think that is awesom!
