Knock/pop noise when turning (steering rack issues within)
I have a w219 and i have 1 issue outstanding with this car thats bugging me now.
The steering is slightly stiff, however the power steering works still.
SDS states SPS solinoid faulty.
Im guessing this is the electrical component on the rack itself? if so, mines snapped/damaged. So the steering is always stiff (like when your doing 70mph on the motorway, it stiffens up).
So how do i get around this, if what i have said is true?. Do i need a whole new rack and if so how do i find the part number to search for a used one?
Also im getting bad almost popping/knock noise when i turn. Ive had a mechanic under the car and it was established the noise is coming from under the rubber covers (like cv boot things) on the steering rack. So does it need regreasing? what is behind this rubber boot?.
