Hi there.another tacho not working on a 190d?

Hi everyone here. I've recently bought myself a reasonably tidy 190d. Done 268000 now but still running strong. I've replaced glow plugs so far and also just replaced the rpm sensor on the bell housing in hope that's fix the gauge not working. Found no.10 fuse was blown put new in.and the rev counter goes right round to the end. Past 7000rpm that is. I pulled the plug off cluster and tested voltage ~ac and came up with about 3.00 touch the accelerator and then it'll drop to 0 and volts ~ drop to about 2.2v~.
I'm now lost on what to do I've printed off heaps to try out but still no joy. Where is the signal being swapped around to opposite. Pulled the ''klima'' relay out and checked it but what do I do with it? I've tested the a/c pump by bridging the pressure sensor and it works ok. So the sensor isn't faulty? The rev gauge still inop correctly.
It's a 190d. 2.5 1990 om602 .w201126.
