Newbie with a 81 240d

Greetings fellow enthusiasts. I am very excited about owning one of these fine cars. I've had my sights set on a w123 for a long time and finally pulled the trigger. My new ride is pretty basic, which is the way I like them. No sunroof, manual windows, standard 4 speed and no frills.

I was looking specifically for a standard 240 d as I was looking for something to make my 80 mile commute a little more efficient than my 98 volvo V70R could deliver. I travel almost exclusively on a two lane sparsely traveled road so I am hoping for at least 30mpg's out of the old girl.

The car is pretty solid with rust along bottom of front fenders, bottom rear quarters and a little on rear wheel lips. Mileage is unknown but Previous owner estimates around 200k. She's had a lot of general maintenance over the years but is no show winner. Interior is just about perfect however. I'll update with some pics soon. I will be here often as I thirst for knowledge and plan on performing most of my own repairs/maintenance.
