Question 2000 s500 possible purchase ?

Hi I am a newbie here at MB world. I joined the better membership because i want to support forums because I think forums such as these empower car owners to make the best decisions when purchasing a Benz. Now for my question. I have found a 2000 s500 with 116,000 on her. This car is a cream puff. It is immaculate. The owner has given me a direct number to the service manager at the MB dealership. The car has been serviced on a regular basis. The compressor has been replaced along with a cooling fan. I feel it has been well taken care of. I am concerned about the suspension and costs to maintain it. I have owned GM cars in the past and i am done with them. From my experience they are more expensive to maintain than a Benz.He is asking 8,900 for it.What do you think? I have always loved Mercedes. I do not know which model to buy.I want it to be reliable as possible. Are 2000's reliable? Should i get something newer or older? I am quite handy and i do most of my own wrenching now. A friend of mine has a 300D and he loves it and he said it is easy to work on. I sort of prefer something a little more comfortable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks:

Hello and welcome to benzworld Congrats on the upgraded membership as well

I'm sure I may get bashed by some W220 S class owners but please avoid the 2000-2002 S class Mercedes. 2003-2006 facelifted models will be your best bet. Sure they are a bit more expensive but they are worth it!

I won't go into details since here is the link to the W220 S class section. Copy and paste what your just wrote to that section. Good luck

I read the threads on the air matic system. You benz guys and gals are great. I feel confident now looking at a s500. Do the 03 to 06 models have less issues with suspension gremlins?
