New Member - Hello ! :

Greetings. I purchased my first Benz about six months ago - a Green C320, 2001 with just under 40K mileage! Besides buying 4 new Michelins and some type of "Control Unit" that went bad (about $1000, that was), it's been great- Until Last Week: the battery went dead, so I called AAA and they offered to sell me a new one and install it on the spot - made sense to me as I had no idea how old my battery was. I had no problem resetting the windows, sunroof, etc. as I'd read the Owners Manual about 3 times through ! Well, I didn't drive the car for one or two days and then I go out and find out the New battery is dead- I call AAA and another guy comes out, recharges it very easily and shows me the voltage is good, but suggests that "something" is draining it slowly...He left and I had no more problems, battery doesn't drain anymore, BUT now my power seats on both sides have stopped functioning ! I'm researching to find local MB mechanics this weekend, as I just can't see going back to the dealership and shelling out $1000s again. I noticed some posts alluding to this or similar issues, have just started searching to find if anyone has ideas, answers, etc. Thanks, I'm glad to part of the Forum ! - Kevin

Sounds like the seat switch was going bad and was stuck in a position that was causing a parasitic drain on the battery. Switch is now dead and the drain on the battery has ceased. This is just a guess based on what you reported.

Cool Seat Switch?

Bizarre...I rarely even change my seat and since I commute a few hours per day, I rarely have anyone else changing the seat around...in any case, I did find a few Independant MB shops mentioned in another Thread - a few of which are walking distance from my home. Now, if the info listed for these shops in the Rockville / Bethesda / Gaithersburg area of Maryland in those posts from 2009 is still correct- I should be good to go ! Thanks for your help and if anyone else has ideas, let me know as it will most likely be Monday before I call the shops.
