2002 E320 Key Fob Battery Insert.

Hi All,
I have 2 keys. One is worn more than the other because of EDC and does not lock/unlock anymore. Batteries are still in good charge, identical voltage as the less worn fob which works flawlessly. I swapped out the battery insert with each other and the worn fob now works.
Question: there are a lot of fobs on Ebay. Can I buy one of these and just use the battery insert without having to reprogram?

THANKS!!

The plastic tray that contains the two coin batteries. There doesn't seem to be any electronics on it except the terminal connectors which makes me think you swap this out.

then place the two battery inserts side by side to compare them for the bending angle of every contact with batteries in, out. Where there's contact, clean it with Qtip+rubbing alcohol.

The stuff on ebay is only good for cosmetic case change, thats it. spend the two hundred and get a shiney new remote with key.

Yes, you can use the battery holder from another key fob, the electronics are inside the key fob.
